Chicago man charged after Hammond fire killed 1, injured 2

HAMMOND, Ind. (AP) - A Chicago man faces murder and other charges in connection with an April 14 fire in Hammond that killed a woman and injured two others.

Court records show 42-year-old Ronald Alan Gee also faces attempted murder and arson charges connected to the fire that killed 62-year-old Brenda Poole.

Records state Poole, her son and Gee's 36-year-old estranged wife were rescued from the burning home, and Gee's wife and Poole were taken to a Chicago hospital with severe burns. Poole died at the hospital.

Records state video surveillance showed what appeared to be Gee's light-colored SUV drive past the home twice before the fire in which an accelerant was used, and his cellphone showed a Google search for the address two hours earlier.

Court records don't list an attorney for Gee.
