Authorities rescue 3 kayakers from southern Indiana river

JASPER, Ind. (AP) - Authorities say three kayakers are expected to be OK after being stranded in a rain-swollen river in southern Indiana.
The state Department of Natural Resources says the three young men were kayaking Sunday in the Patoka River in Dubois County when one of the kayaks hit a low tree limb and overturned.
The DNR says the 18-year-olds became stranded in the water with only two kayaks left after one kayak drifted away with the strong current. They weren't wearing life jackets and were in the water for about an hour and a half before conservation officers rescued them.
They were taken to a hospital, but the DNR says they didn't have major injuries. The DNR says people should use life jackets when boating.
