Police: Carpentersville man choked, beat woman in Lake Zurich
A 34-year-old Carpentersville man has been accused of breaking into his girlfriend's Lake Zurich home and then choking and beating her.
Terry Brennan, of the 100 block of Carpenter Boulevard, is charged with two counts of felony aggravated domestic battery, one felony count of harassment by telephone and two misdemeanor counts of domestic battery.
Lake Zurich Deputy Chief David Anderson said police were dispatched to a home on the 600 block of Surryse Road just after 7 p.m. Tuesday. They spoke with Brennan's girlfriend, who said he had broken into her home through the rear door and attacked her, Anderson said.
The woman told police she was able to escape to a neighbor's home. Brennan fled before police arrived, Anderson said.
The next day, Brennan returned to his girlfriend's house, where he was taken into custody by police about 12:30 p.m., Anderson said.
Brennan remains in the Lake Zurich Police Department lockup but will be transferred to the Lake County jail after a judge sets his bail Thursday or Friday, Anderson said.
