Illinois woman admits providing support to terrorists

ST. LOUIS (AP) - An Illinois woman has pleaded guilty to providing material support to terrorists by helping to fund a St. Louis County man who fought and died in Syria.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that 38-year-old Mediha Medy Salkicevic of Schiller Park, Illinois, admitted in federal court in St. Louis on Thursday that she sent money to co-defendant Ramiz Hodzic, who used the money to buy supplies that he sent to Syria.

Federal prosecutors say the money was used to provide funding for Abdullah Ramo Pazara, who before his death joined al-Qaida in Iraq, which evolved into the Islamic State.

Salkicevic faces sentencing in June. She is the third person to plead guilty in the case, which began with indictments in 2015.

Hodzic and two other defendants have pleaded not guilty.
