Hoffman Estates village manager, deputy named outstanding mentors

The Washington, D.C.-based International City/County Management Association has chosen the team of Hoffman Estates Village Manager Jim Norris and Deputy Village Manager Dan O'Malley as one of its Top 5 Outstanding Mentor Award recipients.

The Outstanding Mentor Awards recognize local government professionals who have demonstrated a commitment to mentoring the next generation of leaders and who have had a significant positive impact on the life and career of their mentees.

Association officials said this year's nominees were exceptional and embodied the qualities and characteristics of great mentors - committed to the growth of their mentees and the local government professions by providing guidance and feedback, listening and acting as a sounding board, sharing knowledge and expertise, instilling confidence and integrity, and more.
