Build a scarecrow to decorate downtown Long Grove

You can build a scarecrow in downtown Long Grove from 11am- 4pm Saturday, Oct. 14, to be displayed along the streets of the town. The event takes place on Towner Green. A $5 voluntary donation helps cover the costs of the materials and proceeds will benefit local food shelters.

The Historic Downtown Long Grove Business District will provide a basic structure for a scarecrow, bales of straw and building guidance. Participants are asked to provide "old" clothing, shoes, hats, gloves, and accessories to dress their scarecrow. Leftover clothing will be donated. The scarecrows will be on display through October with visitors voting for their favorites. Register for a build time at longgrove.org/festivals/diy-scarecrow-day.
