Interim director named for Wauconda library

A veteran Wauconda Area Library employee has been named the facility's interim director, effective Sept. 14.

Elizabeth Greenup has been serving as assistant director since 2016. She'll fill in as director until the library board hires a replacement for Tom Kern, who recently announced his retirement after more than 27 years in that post.

Greenup joined the staff as a library assistant in 2004 and was promoted several times through the years. A timeline for hiring a new director hasn't been finalized.
