Hospitals honor patients, caregivers with blue illumination

Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville joined all other Advocate Aurora Health hospitals across Illinois and Wisconsin to light up blue at 8 p.m. every evening in May to honor the memory of those lost and to express heartfelt gratitude for all health care heroes.

The blue lights illuminating the exterior symbolize the strength of COVID-19 survivors and the love for those lost. It also is a show of heartfelt gratitude to the selflessness and bravery of Advocate Aurora's health care heroes who are committed to helping patients defeat the deadly virus.

Additionally, all hospitals across Advocate Aurora Health simultaneously paused at 10 a.m. May 19 to observe a moment of silence for 19 seconds.

"As we continue to battle COVID-19, we want to pause and recognize the experiences our patients, communities and team members have shared over the past three months," said Matthew Primack, president of Advocate Condell Medical Center.

"Together, we remember our patients who lost their lives, our patients who continue to fight and our dedicated team members who work tirelessly to restore health and wellness.

"We also use this time to be mindful of families and team members who've lost a loved one and all who are struggling with hardships during these unprecedented times."
