Explore Elgin Area's Lights features scavenger hunts and holiday music playlist

The Elgin Area Convention and Visitors Bureau is teaming up with the City of Elgin and the villages of East and West Dundee to bring holiday cheer!

It's that time of the year where people deck the halls and celebrate the holiday by creating some of the most beautiful displays!

"Explore Elgin Area's Lights" is a month long event that you can join in whenever.

It's simple. Just hop in the car, pull up the interactive map and go see the lights.

You can warm up the car and turn on some holiday music during your drive with a special playlist in Spotify.

Add intrigue to your holiday drive by hunting for featured display pieces with a "Scavenger Hunt."

There are 12 different pictures showing display items like a small alien and Olaf from frozen. Use the pictures as clues during your drive to locate the homes where they are displayed.

Get all 12 correct for a chance to win a prize!

Place ranking will be voted on by the community. Voting opened Dec. 5 and ends Dec. 27. The winners will be announced Dec. 28.

There will be prizes awarded to the fan favorite business decorations, homes and a random drawing from voters.

The prizes for residential are: first place, $300 in local gift cards; second place, $150 in local gift cards; or third place, $50 in local gift cards.

The prizes for business are: first place, professional photo shoot & marketing campaign; second and third place, marketing campaign.
