Urawa beats Kawasaki 1-0 to take over 1st place in J-League
TOKYO (AP) - Forward Yuki Muto scored the only goal as Urawa Reds beat Kawasaki Frontale 1-0 on Sunday to reclaim first place in the J-League standings.
Muto converted a pass from Tadanari Lee 10 minutes after the break as Urawa improved to 19 points, two ahead of Kawasaki after eight games.
Elsewhere, Kashiwa Reysol upset third-place Kashima Antlers 2-0 on goals by Junya Ito and Kosuke Taketomi.
Nigerian striker Peter Utaka scored a pair of goals to lead defending champions Sanfrecce Hiroshima to a 2-1 win over Yokohama F Marinos.
Hiroshima and Yokohama both have 14 points.
Takashi Usami scored the only goal in the second half as Gamba Osaka edged winless Avispa Fukuoka 1-0 while Vissel Kobe and Vegalta Sendai finished 2-2.
