Route 31 in Elgin closed after accident

There were no injuries in an accident after a car hit a utility pole about 10:35 a.m. Friday on Route 31 in Elgin and closed the road - also known as State Street - from Locust to National streets near downtown, Police Deputy Chief Bill Wolf said.

"The line is sagging across State Street so they decided to shut it down as a precaution," he said.

ComEd expects to finish repairs by 5 p.m. or so, Wolf said.
