Lake County residents can request a holiday house watch

Lake County residents who live in unincorporated areas and plan to travel out of town for Thanksgiving can request a house watch from the Lake County Sheriff's Office.

The service provides random checks of homes as time permits and authorities will have your contact information if you need to be reached. Call (847) 549-5200 to request the service or get more information.

The sheriff's office also recommends viewing "Preventing Burglaries - How to Protect Your Home" published by the National Neighborhood Watch Program.
