Palatine Jaycees to host information mixer

The Palatine Jaycees will hold a membership information night mixer, which is open to the public, from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, June 22, at Fox & Hound in the Ridge Plaza, 910-918 W. Dundee Road, in Arlington Heights.

Part of JCI USA and JCI International, the Palatine Jaycees create leadership opportunities for members ages 21 to 40. As a young persons organization, the Palatine Jaycees offers the opportunity to develop personal and professional skills, give back to the Palatine community and meet new people.

Current members of the organization will be available to share a beverage and provide more information on the Jaycees.

"We keep our membership information nights informal so that people can get to know a number of the members and learn a bit about the organization," said Lindsay Schubel Nagle, mixer organizer.

"Each year we oversee the Fourth of July festival and provide the fireworks for the Palatine community, award high school scholarships, partner with schools to host a STEM fair, host an annual egg hunt and bestow community grants.

"Minus operating expenses, all the funds raised by the chapter go back into the community. We also have a lot of fun hosting regular social events for members and develop leadership skills along the way."

The Palatine Chapter of the Jaycees, one of 50 local chapters throughout Illinois, has more than 130 members and is one of the largest chapters in Illinois. The Jaycees provide individuals between the age of 21 and 40 the opportunity to develop personal and leadership skills while serving their community and have been recognized statewide, nationally and internationally for their efforts.

The Palatine Chapter holds its monthly general meeting at 7:30 p.m. the third Thursday of the month at the American Legion Hall on Palatine Road, Palatine.
