Rolling Meadows' hazmat team responds to early morning crash

A car and pickup truck collided in Rolling Meadows during rush hour Wednesday morning, resulting in a punctured gasoline tank that led to a hazardous materials response.

The collision involved a Ford E350 truck and a Chevy Malibu and damaged a utility pole near Algonquin Road and Weber Drive, a Rolling Meadows police department spokesman said.

No one was injured, but the crash punctured the truck's gas tank and the car had heavy front-end damage, according to police.

The fire department hazmat team cleaned up the scene after power to the utility pole was shut off, the spokesman said.

The 7:37 a.m. crash affected traffic in the area.
