Using 2 Blake Fedanzo touchdowns and scores from four other players, Montini beat Hyde Park 51-8 to give former longtime Broncos assistant Mike Bukovsky his first victory as Montini head coach.

Fast start

IC Catholic Prep began the defense of its Class 3A championship with a 43-7 victory over Bishop McNamara. Senior quarterback Luke Ricobene started fast with 4 touchdown passes.

Another nice debut

An 81-yard touchdown run and Mike Baffa's touchdown run and touchdown paced St. Francis' 27-7 win at Argo to deliver Bob McMillen his first victory as Spartans coach.

Thriller

For all the great games on Friday, none top Lake Park's 36-34 victory over Waubonsie Valley. Behind a late scoop-and-score fumble recovery, it was the Lancers' first win over the Warriors since 2007.
