People sought for Gurnee citizen police academy

Gurnee police are seeking participants for the Citizen Police Academy to be held from 7 to 10 p.m. Thursdays, Aug. 25 through Nov. 17. The academy is 36 hours of instruction to provide a working knowledge of the practices, policies, and procedures governing the police department. Classes cover all facets of operations, including the hiring/training process, the 911 call center, investigations, patrol, and more. Hands-on participation is included whenever possible. Participants must be at least 18 years of age and of good moral character with no felony convictions. There is no charge for the academy.
