Round Lake Beach woman dies in crash near Antioch

A Round Lake Beach woman was killed in a traffic crash near Antioch late Monday.

Lake County sheriff's deputies were called to an accident with injuries at 10:15 p.m. in the area of West North Avenue and Burning Bush Lane, authorities said Tuesday.

The preliminary investigation shows Megan E. Rail, 26, was driving a 2011 Chevrolet HHR westbound on North when she lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree for unknown reasons.

Rail was not wearing a seat belt, authorities said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Crash investigators responded to the scene and continue to investigate if drugs, alcohol, or speed were a factor in the crash, authorities said.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff's Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
