Apply to be a Lake County Young Ambassador to do good in the community

Applications are now being accepted for the Young Ambassador's Board through the Lake County state's attorney's office.

The Young Ambassador's Board was established by the Lake County state's attorney's office to give students who are interested in empowering their peers a pathway to perform community service for the betterment of all communities. These Young Ambassadors work together to raise awareness and improve the well-being and education to the youth of Lake County.

Their mission statement is and continues to be, "The members of the Young Ambassador Board of the Lake County state's attorney's office are dedicated to serving and empowering their peers in our community. The Young Ambassadors will lead by example and work together throughout Lake County."

Members on the Young Ambassador's Board not only to have a positive presence throughout their school, but also create an avenue for teens to volunteer in their community.

"The Young Ambassador's Board is truly one of the best ways Lake County teens can raise awareness of causes, empower their peers, and improve their communities," Lake County State's Attorney Michael G. Nerheim said. "We are exceptionally proud to once again offer up the Young Ambassador's Board program to teens in Lake County."

The Young Ambassador's Board meets twice monthly to brainstorm goals and initiatives for their peers and communities, and to become instrumental voices in their communities. The first meeting is to discuss goals and receive training, the second meeting is to work on the Community Awareness Program, which focuses on issues important to youth, such as cyber safety, teen dating violence, and anti-drug and alcohol prevention.
