Police searching for man who robbed bank in Elmhurst

Police are looking for a man who robbed a bank inside an Elmhurst Jewel Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.

Elmhurst police received a call at 3 p.m. reporting a robbery occurred at the TCF bank inside the Jewel at 944 S. York St. The robber fled on foot, according to a news release from the Elmhurst Police Department.

The robber was described as a Black man who was wearing a gray baseball cap, a blue/gray shirt and jeans, the news release said. Anyone with information should call Elmhurst police at (630) 530-3050.

Schools in the area were placed on a soft lockdown, which has been lifted.
