Memphis Tigers coming to Nashville for spring scrimmage

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - New Memphis coach Mike Norvell is taking his Tigers on the road this spring hitting Interstate 40 east to Nashville on Saturday.

The Tigers will scrimmage at Father Ryan High School on Saturday with a pre-practice tailgate hosted by Memphis' alumni association.

This is the first out-of-town scrimmage for Memphis under Norvell, hired to replace Justin Fuente who took over at Virginia Tech. The scrimmage is billed as a chance for the Tigers to promote themselves outside of Memphis.

Norvell plans to run an up-tempo offense and has several players back from a team that went 9-4 last season.
