Will Des Plaines allow 90-foot cell tower?

The Des Plaines City Council will meet Monday to discuss a request for a cellular communications tower extension, among other business.

A public hearing on the matter will occur during the council's regular meeting, which begins 7 p.m. at city hall, 1420 Miner St.

The tower is on the Extra Space Storage property on the 2000 block of Mannheim Road. It's 60 feet tall, and a 30-foot extension has been requested, documents show. The council rejected the request in September but decided in early October to reconsider the plan.
