Indiana high school hit by tornado faces extensive repairs

BEECH GROVE, Ind. (AP) - Part of an Indianapolis-area high school badly damaged by a weekend tornado won't be repaired before classes resume in about six weeks.
Beech Grove High School had a section of its roof torn off during Saturday's storm, leading to extensive water and debris damage in more than 20 classrooms. The tornado also knocked down the football stadium scoreboard and mangled batting cages and dugouts.
District Superintendent Paul Kaiser says at least six classrooms in the 950-student school will remain closed for repairs when the fall semester starts July 31. But he worries more storms could cause additional damage before the roof is fixed.
The district expects its insurance coverage to pay for most of the repair costs.
