6 hikers rescued after getting lost in southern Indiana park
MADISON, Ind. (AP) - Emergency workers rescued six hikers after they became lost on a southern Indiana state park trail.
Authorities in Jefferson County say the hikers were rescued at Clifty Falls State Park on Saturday evening about an hour after they used a cellphone to call for help from along two of the park's most rugged trails. They were found about 200 yards off of a trail.
The Madison Courier reports (http://bit.ly/1O1tupU0 ) authorities say a 17-year-old female hiker was hyperventilating and could no longer walk because of the cold temperatures. Officers carried the girl out and helped the rest of the hikers to the top of a canyon to await emergency personnel.
