Elmhurst woman reunited with dog after car stolen
An Elmhurst woman was reunited with her dog Tuesday afternoon after it went missing when her car was stolen five days ago, Elmhurst police said.
The tan Terrier Shi Zu mix, named Zoey, was in her owner's car in the parking lot of Elmhurst Crossing (265 Rt 83) at 9:50 when it was stolen. The stolen car was located Dec. 22 near Chicago's West Side, but Zoey wasn't found with it, police said.
A woman found Zoey near 13th Street and Kostner in Chicago and took care of her for a few days until she discovered she resembled a dog reported missing and contacted Elmhurst police. The police were able to verify the dog was Zoey with a chip reader.
Elmhurst police said the family was elated Zoey was reunited with the family.
