Baseball: St. Charles North wins twice
St. Charles North wins a pair on the road: In a close first game, the North Stars (2-1) came out on top of a 3-2 win over Gahanna Lincoln. The second game went much more smoothly as Egon Hein had 4 hits to lead St. Charles North to a 9-2 victory over Melbourne Central Catholic.
Jeremy Lambel was the Game 1 winner, surrendering one run on one hit over 2 innings and striking out one. In Game 2, it was Andrew Jimenez on the mound for the North Stars for two and two-thirds, allowing 2 runs on 4 hits and striking out one.
Warren 9, Dundee-Crown 4: The Chargers (2-4) fell behind early on a sac fly in the first inning and couldn't come back.
Justin Colon took the loss for Dundee-Crown. Matt Ward went 2-for-2 at the plate.
Elgin drops a pair to Schaumburg: The Maroons (0-3) struggled to find the offense and the Schaumburg bats kept heating up. The Saxons took the first game 9-2 and blanked Elgin in the second game 8-0.
Jorge Martinez suffered the first game loss for Elgin giving up 3 hits and 5 runs over 3 innings. A double by Dakylo Sikora in the first inning was the lone bright spot in the second game. Johnny Villegas took the loss going 3 innings and striking out three.
Addison Trail 10, Streamwood 4: Despite tying the game at three in the bottom of the third, the Sabres (2-1) could not quite hang on for the win. Anthony Caruso led the offense for Streamwood with 2 hits in 3 appearances, one of those a home run. Colin Bielinski took the loss for the Sabres lasing three and a third innings, striking out four.
Geneva 9, Lakes 5: A 4 RBI day for Mike Klazura led Geneva (3-0-1) to a win over Lakes. Jack LaManna earned the victory, throwing 2 innings, allowing one hit and 2 runs while striking out two. Tyler Huskey threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
South Elgin 9, Palatine 0: The Storm (2-0) had 13 hits in the game, as Griffin Allen, Patrick Keaty, and Garrett Wano each tallied multiple hits. Allen went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead South Elgin in hits. Robert Zagorski took the win for the Storm allowing no runs on a single hit and striking out six through 5 innings of work.
East Aurora drops two at DeKalb: In a very high scoring affair, DeKalb took an insurmountable lead to beat the Tomcats (0-3) 17-7. It was DeKalb again with hotter bats, as the Barbs took the second game 9-1.
In Game 1, Luis Gomez suffered the loss, lasting 2 innings, allowing 3 hits and a run. Gomez also led the offense with 3 hits in 4 at-bats. In the second game, Juan Lopez surrendered 5 runs on 6 hits over 2 innings, taking the loss for East Aurora.
