Trustees: No tuition increase this year at Illinois State

NORMAL, Ill. (AP) - There will be no increase in tuition or room and board rates at Illinois State University for upcoming academic year.

The rates that Illinois State trustees set Friday include an increase in mandatory student fees, which will go up 12% from the 2018-2019 academic year to about $92 per credit hour. School officials say the additional revenue will fund "academic enhancement needs, especially technology and facilities." Overall it will cost full-time students about $24,680 to attend ISU, including health insurance.

New in-state undergraduate students this fall will pay $384.13 in tuition per credit hour. They will pay that rate through summer 2023.

Separately trustees at their Friday meeting approved improvements to the school's Bone Student Center, Julian Hall and Watterson Towers.
