Barrington Chamber scholarship applications due March 15
Applications for the 2022 Lauren Brown Memorial Scholarship funded by the Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce are now available.
The scholarships go to local high school students pursuing higher education through a university, community college, or vocational/trade certification program. Scholarships range from $500 to $1,500. Scholarships are not based on financial need.
Eligible students must be from the Barrington area, or be related to an employee of a chamber member business.
The scholarship is named after Lauren Brown, who worked for the chamber for several years and lost her battle with cancer at the age of 29. It is funded by chamber events such as the annual dinner fundraiser, the Golf Classic, and Women's Biz Net activities.
"The BACC Lauren Brown Memorial Scholarship is an investment in our local youth," said Chamber President and CEO Suzanne Corr.
Applications are available at BarringtonChamber.com or at the chamber office, 190 E. James St. in Barrington.
The deadline to receive applications and supporting documents is March 15.
Scholarship recipients will be notified by April 8 and will be asked to attend an April 28 lunch at Biltmore Country Club. They also must be willing to have their name and photo used for publicity purposes.
