Chicago man held without bond in murder of missing woman

CHICAGO (AP) - Bail has been denied a man charged with murdering a Chicago woman who went missing in March and whose body has never been found.

Chicago Police say 34-year-old Marvin Bailey of Chicago was arrested Tuesday on the city's South Side and charged with first-degree murder in the death of Chaunti Bryla.

The 43-year-old Bryla was last seen on March 20, after her family filed a missing persons' report. During a Wednesday bond hearing, Cook County prosecutors say before her disappearance, Bryla demanded that Bailey move out her home after she got into a fight with his girlfriend.

Prosecutors said Bryla allowed Bailey, the half-brother of the victim's 10-year-old son, to live with her after he was released from prison in 2018. Bailey served time in prison after being convicted of aggravated battery.
