2 from Lafayette charged in 2015 baby death investigation
LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) - Authorities in northwest Indiana say two people have been charged following the 2015 death investigation of an eight-month-old baby.
Twenty-six-year-old Chad A. Giroux Jr. and 21-year-old Makenzie D. Shultz, both from Lafayette, were arrested this week. They face charges including perjury and neglect of a dependent resulting in death.
Police were called to investigate in November 2015 after the baby died at a hospital. Also investing the case were the Department of Child Services and the Tippecanoe County Prosecutor's Office.
Both individuals are being held at the Tippecanoe County Jail. It was immediately unclear if they have attorneys.
A message left Friday at a listed number for Giroux wasn't immediately returned. A number for Schultz couldn't be located.
