Cook County offering grants for capital improvements, social services

The competitive grant application process for Cook County's 2019 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and Emergency Solutions Grants (ESG) programs is underway.

The county uses its CDBG and ESG funding primarily to support capital improvement projects such as roads, sewers and facilities, as well as social services in the suburbs. The main objective of the programs is to develop viable communities and expand economic opportunities, principally for persons of low and moderate income. The programs are funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Applications are due by 4 p.m. Friday, March 29. For details regarding the 2019 grant applications and to download them online, visit the Bureau of Economic Development website at www.cookcountyil.gov/content/grant-applicants-cdbg-esg.
