Martin Flores wins first Web.com Tour title

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) - Martin Flores won the Lincoln Land Charity Championship on Sunday for his first Web.com Tour title to wrap up a PGA Tour card.

The 34-year-old former Oklahoma player closed with a 4-under 67 for a two-stroke victory over Wesley Bryant, Jonathan Randolph, JT Poston and Casey Wittenberg.

"You always want to win, no matter where you are," Flores said. "That's why we practice so hard. There are so many good players out here on the Web.com Tour as well as the PGA Tour and we put in a lot of hours. Winning is not something that comes along all the time for golfers. I feel very lucky and appreciative of what I have."

Flores finished at 22-under 262 at Panther Creek and earned $99,000 to jump from 11th to fourth on the money list with $249,431. The top 25 at end of the regular season will earn PGA Tour cards.

"Getting to the PGA Tour is the No. 1 goal," Flores said. "No. 2 is getting a win, so I checked off both boxes. I'm excited about getting back out there and competing."

Flores had two birdies and an eagle - on the par-5 seventh - on the front nine. He bogeyed the par-3 14th, birdied the par-5 15th and closed with three pars.

"There were times today where I was in difficult positons but I never pressed," Flores said.

Flores had his fifth top-four finish of the year. He tied for third in the Panama Claro Championship and Louisiana Open and was fourth in the Brazil Champions and El Bosque Mexico Championship.

Third-round leader Bryant had a 70. The money leader with $332,392, he's trying to win for the third time this season to earn an immediate PGA Tour promotion. Randolph shot 63, Poston 64, and Wittenberg 67.
