Lake Barrington again holds line on property tax

The village of Lake Barrington will not increase its portion of the property tax levy in 2019, marking the fifth consecutive year it has held the line. Officials said the village portion of residents' Lake County tax bills is 3.7 percent. Of that amount, the village plans to dedicate 1.46 percent of open space funds and the remaining 2.25 percent for the general operating fund. "We pride ourselves on being good stewards of residents' hard-earned tax dollars," said Lake Barrington Village President Kevin Richardson. "Achieving this for five consecutive years is largely due to the creation of our business-friendly community and our continued efforts to pursue new economic development activities."
