No injuries Arlington Hts. house fire
A fire that started in the attic of a two-story house was put out in 15 minutes Thursday night by Arlington Heights firefighters, authorities said.
Fire crews were dispatched about 6 p.m. to the house fire near Evanston Avenue and Miner Street, south of Memory Gardens Cemetery. A passer-by noticed flames coming from the roof and contacted authorities, as no one was home at the time, according to Battalion Chief Bill Kidd of the Arlington Heights Fire Department.
No injuries were reported.
The fire caused an estimated $150,000 in damage - most to the attic, though smoke and water damage throughout the rest of the house made it unfit for occupancy Thursday night, Kidd said.
A cause of the fire remained under investigation.
