Authorities: Deadly Illinois trailer fire intentionally set

GOODFIELD, Ill. (AP) - Authorities in central Illinois say a mobile home fire that killed three children and two adults was intentionally set.

Woodford County Coroner Tim Ruestman said Thursday that the five deaths will be ruled homicides. He said a juvenile is being questioned. The ruling came after an investigation by the coroner's office, fire officials, law enforcement and prosecutors. The coroner previously ruled the five died from smoke inhalation .

Woodford County State's Attorney Greg Minger said he was awaiting final forensic results before charges were filed. He says there will be charges "eventually" but "it takes some time."

The April 6 blaze killed 1-year-old Ariel Wall, 2-year-olds Rose Alwood and Damien Wall, 34-year-old Jason Wall and 69-year-old Kathryn Murray. The trailer was in Timberline Mobile Home Park just northeast of the Goodfield village limits between Peoria and Bloomington-Normal.
