Letter: Stop vehicle smog tests
Here's a great way to save Illinois tax money. How about eliminating Illinois' auto pollution tests. There are 19 testing sites with easily five employees at each one. Six years ago, 7% of cars flunked the test. With the newer cars, odds are that less than 4% flunk the test. How does it make sense to have over 2 million cars drive to the test sites every year. How much pollution is that creating? And, then we have all the workers doing the paperwork downstate. We all know they earn their salary, right?
