Elgin man charged with car burglary

An Elgin man was charged with burglarizing a car after two police officers found him rifling through it early Friday morning, authorities said.

Angel A. Ortiz-Nunez, 32, of the 100 block of Hinsdell Place, also was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, according to a news release from the Elgin Police Department.

Two officers on bike patrol spotted a man between cars in a driveway about 12:30 a.m. on the 700 block of Bluff City Blvd. The officers stopped to investigate and found Ortiz-Nunez going through the contents of one of the cars, which didn't belong to him, police said. He was arrested and taken to the Elgin Police Department; Ortiz-Nunez is due in Cook County bond court Saturday morning.
