Evansville reaches settlement over SWAT raid lawsuit

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) - The city of Evansville has reached a court settlement with a woman whose home was damaged during a SWAT raid as investigators searched for the source of online threats against police.

Homeowner Louise Milan and the city reached the deal Wednesday over the federal lawsuit she filed because of the 2012 raid. Attorneys for Milan and the city tell the Evansville Courier & Press (http://bit.ly/27SYmmP ) details of the settlement were still being finalized.

Milan's lawsuit argued her constitutional right against unreasonable search and seizure was violated when the SWAT team tossed two flash-bang grenades into her home as they broke in and handcuffed her and her daughter.

Court records say investigators later determined the online threats were posted by someone accessing the home's internet connection.
