Fire causes $25,000 damage to Mundelein home

A fire of undetermined cause resulted in $25,000 damage Friday to a Mundelein home.

Firefighters said a neighbor noticed smoke and flames coming from a front picture window at the single-family home on the 800 block of Lange Street.

Firefighters arrived four minutes later to find the window had broken as a result of heat. Mundelein responded with 15 firefighters and were assisted by Countryside and Libertyville. No one was at home at the time and no injuries were reported. A dog and cat were removed safely and were not injured, according to firefighters.

The origin of the fire was in the living room but the cause is being investigated. Smoke damage was reported throughout the house, which was valued at $100,000.
