Man acquitted in 2018 stabbing death in western Indiana

ROCKVILLE, Ind. (AP) - A man has been acquitted in the 2018 stabbing death of another man during a fight in western Indiana.

The Tribune-Star reports a jury on Thursday found 40-year-old Dana M. Harris of Rockville not guilty on charges of aggravated battery, reckless homicide and criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon. Sheriff Justin Cole says Harris has been released from the Parke County Jail.

Harris was arrested in June 2018 after police responded to a house in Rockville and found 42-year-old Shane Skelton lying on the ground with a stab wound. He died at a hospital.

The man's estranged wife told authorities that Skelton had been in a fight with Harris inside the house. Harris told police he had used a knife to defend himself against Skelton.
