Volunteers sought for Lake County homeless count

Volunteers are being sought for the annual Unsheltered Homeless Point in Time Count to be conducted from 9:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30.

Volunteers search throughout Lake County to interview and assist unsheltered homeless people. The information is used to determine where resources should be spent and to evaluate current and future programs.

Any homeless person found by a team on count night will be given a care package with warm socks, gloves, hats and other items.

Those who can't volunteer can help by purchasing supplies on the Amazon wish list. Email DKletzing@lakecountyil.gov for more information.
