The Grayslake Central baseball team broke out to an early 4-0 lead and held on to defeat Skyline (Colo.) 6-4 on Tuesday at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Fla.

Max Snowden (2 RBI) and Coby Moe each had a pair of hits for the Rams (3-1) to lead a 9-hit attack. Justin Shepley added a double and Benton Troehler had a base hit with 2 RBI.

Junior Clay Stoeffl started on the mound for the Rams and tossed the first 4 innings. He allowed 1 earned run with 4 strikeouts. Ray Bradley tossed 2 innings, allowing 1 earned run with 3 strikeouts to pick up the win.

Lukas Schmitt, who's signed with Wisconsin-La Crosse, led the offense for Warren (4-0), going 3-for-4 with a double and 3 RBI. Vic Perez also doubled for the Blue Devils, and Matt Temaner tripled.

Corner 8, Vernon Hills 2: In the Gulf Coast Classic in Orange Beach, Ala., the Cougars took the loss.

On a hitters day where the wind was blowing out on a small field, Vernon Hills starter Matt Gramins gave up 4 hits. The bad news for the Cougars was that Gramins didn't get out of the third inning, as all 4 hits caught the jet stream and left the yard.

Caleb Thomson (3⅔ IP, 4R, 3ER, 5H, 0BB, 2K) gave a solid effort in relief. Brennan Reback led off the game for Vernon Hills with a home run. Sam Brandl, Nick Marras and Drew Winegardner also had hits in the losing effort for the Cougars (3-3, 1-2 tournament).

Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast Catholic 7, Grayslake North 4: Johnny Rennolds knocked in a pair of runs and went 1-for-3 for the Knights.

Grayslake North's Regen Marshall was also 1-for-3 and had an RBI.

Medina 13, Stevenson 9: In Vero Beach, Fla., the Patriots took a 9-8 lead into the bottom of the sixth but surrendered 5 runs.

The loss snapped Stevenson's five-game winning streak.
