Police seek information about shootings in Aurora
Aurora police said they are seeking public assistance in obtaining information about two shootings that took place on the near east side Tuesday.
A 19-year-old man was driving north on East Avenue when he came under gunfire just south of Benton Street at about 11:30 p.m., authorities said on Facebook.
The victim's car was struck several times by a person inside a gold sedan.
The victim quickly accelerated while turning west to escape, causing him to lose control of the vehicle and strike a tree in the 700 block of Benton.
The victim was treated and released from an Aurora hospital for minor injuries.
The police investigation showed a home on the 800 block of Benton Street was hit by gunfire. There were no injuries reported.
Police said a second shooting took place in the 200 block of Beach Street at 3:35 p.m.
Officials said nothing was hit in that shooting and no injuries were reported. Police have not been able to recover information about suspects or vehicles that might have been involved.
