Elgin police looking into flat tire incidents
Elgin police are investigating three suspicious incidents involving flat tires and strangers' offers to help for a fee.
Two incidents took place July 24 on South Randall Road, one on the 100 block and one on the 200 block, and the third took place Saturday in the 1000 block of Summit Street, police said in a Facebook post Monday evening.
The occupants of the vehicles noticed a flat tire, then were approached by one or two black men who offered to fix the flat for a fee, police said.
Police are investigating to determine if the tires were intentionally flattened for financial gain.
Anyone who has experienced similar circumstances is asked to call the major investigations division at (847) 289-2600.
