• The Buffalo Grove Garden Club: 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14: "Decorating for Fall," presented by Mary Cantrell, a florist at Lake Zurich Floral Shop, at Alcott Center, 530 Bernard Drive, Buffalo Grove. Cantrell will use a variety of flowers and other materials to create amazing fall arrangements; after the presentation, arrangements will go home with a few lucky winners. Refreshments will be served and all are welcome.

• Hoffman Estates Garden Club: 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2. "Selecting the Right Tree for Your Yard," presented by Brad Buker, at the Township of Schaumburg Hall, One Illinois Blvd., Hoffman Estates. Buker will highlight specific trees for our area, including understory trees as well as various native trees and their benefits. Buker is a certified arborist and tree care safety specialist for Bartlett Tree Experts. He is a member of the Illinois and Wisconsin chapters of the International Society of Arboriculture. • Garden Club of Lake Zurich: 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7: "Backyard Birds and Bird Feeding," presented by David Brooks, a professional naturalist, at Ela Public Library, 275 Mohawk Trail, Lake Zurich. Learn the "how to" of attracting a variety of birds to your yard with feeding stations and food plantings. The program will include a who's who of common local birds and some of the migrants to be found in spring and fall. Brooks lectures on Illinois natural history and green landscaping in the Chicago area. Guests welcome. Register for this one-hour lecture at the library event page: https://eapl.libnet.info/events. • Mount Prospect Garden Club: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14. "Indoor Gardening with Succulents," presented by Veronica Porter, at the Mount Prospect village hall, Farley Room. Over the last several years, succulents have become very popular. Veronica Porter will walk you through growing succulents indoors and discuss why they make the best house plants. The past president of the Illinois Farmer Veterans Coalition and a member of Homegrown by Heroes, Porter runs her business, Ask Aunt V, in downtown Naperville. Guests are welcome. Social time begins at 9:30 a.m. with a business meeting at 10 a.m.

• Schaumburg Community Garden Club: 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8: "Our Climate Crisis," presented by Kent Taylor, at Spring Valley Nature Center, 1111 E. Schaumburg Road, Schaumburg. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Visit the club online at www.schaumburggardenclub.org.
