Man missing, another rescued after Ohio River boat crash

CLARKSVILLE, Ind. (AP) - Indiana conservation officers say a Louisville, Kentucky, man remains missing after his newly-purchased boat crashed, throwing him and another man into the Ohio River.

Conservation Officer Jim Schreck says the search for 26-year-old Donald Watson resumed Tuesday morning in the waters near Clarksville, Indiana.

He says Watson was operating the boat Monday evening when its motor apparently malfunctioned and he and 28-year-old passenger Levell Washington of Jeffersonville, Indiana, were thrown overboard and swept through the McAlpine Locks and Dam.

Firefighters rescued Washington after he called for help on his cellphone while in the water, but Watson remains missing.

Schreck says Watson was seen struggling to stay afloat before he vanished beneath the river's surface.

He says preliminary findings indicate that Watson had purchased the 18-foot fiberglass boat earlier this week.
