Fort Wayne woman gets 3 years for driving car at 3 people

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) - A northeastern Indiana woman who drove her car at three people, injuring a teenage girl, has been sentenced to three years in prison.

Twenty-four-year-old Sarah Baltera had pleaded guilty in May to battery and criminal recklessness charges. An Allen County judge sentenced her Friday to five years in prison, but suspended two years to be served on probation.

The Journal Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/1sLJh68 ) that the Fort Wayne woman got into her car in March 2015 after a fight with a former roommate had left her face battered.

Authorities say Baltera put her car in drive and accelerated, aiming the vehicle at her former roommate, the roommate's mother and a 14-year-old girl.

Baltera's car slammed into a parked car, which lurched forward and pinned the teen's leg between the two vehicles.
