Naperville Trolley offers historic, children's tours
Naperville Trolley has begun offering historic and children's tours of Naperville.
During the one-hour historic tours, riders learn about old Naperville and see the new Naperville. The tour highlights the city's growth and includes some fun stories.
The guide is most often the "Trolley Chick," Annette Wehrli, whose family has lived in Naperville since 1846.
The historic tours begin at 11 a.m. Fridays in June, July and August, as well as at 5:15 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month. The tours begin and end at the trolley stop on Jackson Avenue at Eagle Street in downtown Naperville. Tours cost $16 per person.
The 30-minute children's trolley rides are for those just looking to ride the trolley and who may not be able to stay quiet during the hourlong historic tour. The tour includes a little history and is mostly a fun ride around downtown Naperville.
The driver has a sheet of things the kids can search for as they trolley around town.
Children's tours are offered at 10:15 a.m. Fridays during June, July and August, as well as at 4:30 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month, beginning and ending at the trolley stop. Rides are $8 each.
The trolley is fully enclosed, has air conditioning, and runs rain or shine. No strollers may be brought on board. Reservations can be made online at napervilletrolley.com.
