Two accused of stealing safe, cash at Lake Forest Oasis
Two men have been arrested and charged with stealing a safe from the Sbarro's Pizza Restaurant inside the Lake Forest Oasis in February, police said Friday.
Waukegan residents Alejandro Perez, 29, and Roberto Francisco Vindel-Guifarro, 25, have been charged with felony counts of burglary and theft over $500 for stealing the safe and $3,000 from the pizza restaurant at 11:11 p.m. Feb. 7, Illinois State Police officials said.
The bond amount and court information are unknown at this time.
Authorities said the men entered the pizza restaurant through an employee door. Perez was wearing a ball cap, black wig, and gloves, authorities said, while Vindel-Guifarro was wearing a black wig, black sweatshirt with a hood and gloves.
Both men used aprons in an attempt to conceal their clothing and hide their faces from interior security cameras, officials said.
The suspects tried to put the safe into a large garbage can, but were unable to do so, authorities said. Instead, they used a four-wheeled dolly to move the safe through the rear employee exit door.
After an investigation, Perez and Vindel-Guifarro were taken into custody at 12:02 p.m. March 9, authorities said.
