Buffalo Grove honors longtime festival leader Springman
Buffalo Grove leaders recently honored the service of J.V. Springman, who is stepping down from the Buffalo Grove Days Committee after 22 years, including 16 as its co-chairman.
"J.V. is a very kind man. He will go out of his way to help and assist everyone," Buffalo Grove Village President Beverly Sussman said at a village board meeting. "He always jumps in when needed, moving, lifting, driving the disabilities cart."
Sussman said Springman is especially fond of the Buddy Baseball games for athletes with special needs.
His longtime co-chair, Paulette Greenberg, was out of the country, but sent a message, calling him a "great summer husband."
Springman said although the village is thanking him, "It is really I who thank you for the opportunity to serve."
He described Greenberg as "the heart and the soul of our committee" and thanked the committee members.
"There is a great Pittsburgh Pirates saying: 'We are family.'"
