Softball: Elk Grove wins 11th straight

Elk Grove's trip to Bensenville on Tuesday produced a 25-7 nonconference softball triumph for the Mid-Suburban East leaders (16-1, 5-1) over host Fenton.

Junior Anna Bonder ran her record to 6-0 with 7 strikeouts in the complete-game win that gave the Grenadiers their 11th straight win since a 9-3 loss to Barrington.

Bonder also hit her first homer of the season.

Alex Masnica and Amy Pietruszynski doubled for the Grens while teammates Sarah Pauscher and Mackenzie Flannery tripled.

Barrington 19, Hoffman Estates 8: Senior Rachel Macdonald (4-for-5, 3 RBI) and sophomore Abbey Jacobsen (4-for-4, 2 RBI) each had 3 doubles for visiting Barrington (17-4, 5-2) in the MSL West game.

Other top hitters for the Fillies were Carly Kordich (3-for-5, 3 runs), Jamie Brown (3-for-4, home run, double, 3 RBI), Liz Sweeney (3-for-4, double, RBI) and Kelly Katis (2-for-4, 2 RBI).

Sophomore Caroline Hoppe (4-1) went 4⅔ innings for the win, striking out four while classmate Catherine McMahon (13-3) threw the final 2⅓ innings.

Maine West 10, Highland Park 0 (5 inn.): Junior Grace Feldkamp (3-0) was the winning pitcher and had 2 hits for the visiting Warriors (4-7, 2-3) in the Central Suburban North game.

Gabrielle Demma (double) and Elena Lozano also had 2 hits for West while Jordan Hart (triple), Monica Liwag (double), Nicole Byerly, Megan Swanson, Allison Pearson and Katelyn Aragon ecah had one.
